Family Heirloom Guns Stolen In Burglary

Revolver, Shotgun, Rifles Stolen In Daytime Burglary In Englewood

POSTED: 8:10 am MST January 16, 2012
UPDATED: 2:45 pm MST January 16, 2012

A woman in Englewood has issued a plea for help to find the family heirloom guns taken in a burglary in Englewood.

Lisa Dryer told 7NEWS that someone broke into her home in Englewood during the day last Wednesday.

"They bashed in my back door, ransacked the entire home, even took the cushions off the couch," Dryer said.

When Dryer came home, she found a revolver, a shotgun and 3 rifles were missing.

The guns were heirlooms from her father and are the only items she has from him.

"The guns were given to me by my father when he passed away in 2007," Dryer said. "Some guns are very unique and someone may recognize them."

A neighbor saw a thief leaving the house and gave police a vague description of a man in his 20s, approximately 6 feet tall, who was driving a dark-colored SUV.

Dryer believes the thief may be the same person who has burglarized other homes in the neighborhood.

Englewood police confirm there has been an increase in daytime burglaries in the city; however most people are reporting stolen televisions and electronics, not firearms.

If you know anything about the burglary or the guns, please call Englewood Police.
