WINTER PARK, Colo. -- The Colorado Avalanche Information Center is warning of dangerous conditions in the backcountry after a telemark skier triggered a large avalanche near Winter Park. Spokesman Scott Toepfer said the skier was partially buried and was rescued by a friend who was skiing with him on Sunday afternoon. The skier was not identified and his injuries were not available.
The center said Saturday's high winds could affect other snow slabs near tree line on easterly slopes.
