Three bodies discovered in rural La Plata County and Durango Friday were identified on Saturday..

At about 1:40 p.m. Friday, La Plata County Sheriff’s Office deputies were sent on a report of suspicious circumstances at a residence on Colorado State Hwy 140, about 1/2 mile north of the Colorado-New Mexico border, southwest of Durango. When deputies arrived on the property, they discovered the body of a man hanging in a barn from what initially appears to be a possible suicide.

While conducting a welfare check on the rest of the property, Deputies found a foot protruding from freshly dug dirt near a river bank and they recovered the body of another man.

Based on information found at the residence, the sheriff’s office asked Durango Police Department to check on the welfare of a woman at a home in Durango. When officers arrived, they found the body of an adult woman.

On Saturday one of the men was identified as 40-year-old Robert D. Decker who lived at the farm. The second person was identified as 69-year-old William Klatt Decker who was Robert’s uncle. He also resided at the farm.

he woman was identified as 67-year-old Billie Decker. She was the sister of William Klatt Decker and the mother of Robert D. Decker, according to the sheriff's office.

The case was under investigation as a double murder, suicide but the sheriff's office has not released what might have led to the deaths
