CODY, Wyo. -- A Park County road that's been the subject of loathing and ridicule for its obliquely obscene name is about to be renamed Stagecoach Drive.About 40 homes are along Park County Six FU. The road runs along the North Fork of the Shoshone River and around Buffalo Bill
Reservoir.Residents along the road met to choose the new name and presented the name to the County Commission on Tuesday.
County commissioners plans to vote on renaming the road May 4.
County Road 6FU got its name in 1980, when Park County adopted an alpha-numeric road naming system.Property owners say the name of the road, with its profane overtone, had long been a thorn on their side."It is probably one of the most embarrassing road names the county has in the books. There is no other road in the United States, I can assure you, that has the road name F-U," said property owner Terry Hinkle. At first, the 30 property owners who signed a petition to get the road name changed asked for dual designation, or two names for the road. They also wanted the road named Sheep Mountain Road. But some commissioners said that may confuse emergency dispatchers since the county already has a Sheep Mountain Lane.
