DENVER -- Goshen County, Wyo., Sheriff Donald Murphy says he's received some complaints from officers in other departments after his deputies arrested two Colorado officers who authorities say took an alcohol-fueled ride through Wyoming.

But, he said Friday, his officers "did what they were supposed to do."

Aurora Officers Bradley B. Bickett and Gerald Kirby are on desk duty after being accused of speeding past traffic with their emergency lights on and tossing trash from a marked Aurora patrol car on their way to the South Dakota funeral of a fallen police officer.

Their squad car was pulled over Wednesday after a volunteer firefighter spotted the vehicle driving erratically outside Torrington, Wyo.

The two were pulled over in Torrington. Investigating officers said Bickett's speech appeared to be slurred.

Bickett's blood alcohol level was 0.07, according to Goshen County sheriff's Capt. Bryan Morehouse. The officer was cited for going 57 miles per hour in a 40 mile per hour zone.

Bickett was charged with driving while impaired, careless driving and speeding, while Kirby was charged with littering.

"We're embarrassed. We're in disbelief. It's quite a shock," Aurora Police Sgt. Cassidee Carlson told 7NEWS on Thursday.

"Our chief extended a phone call to that sheriff (Thursday) morning, not only to apologize for the actions of our officers, but also to thank them for their professionalism," she said.
