EATON, Colo. -- The superintendent of Eaton Schools is apologizing after teenage boys and girls shared a room at a cheerleading camp. The coach had planned to put four to five female cheerleaders in each room at the conference in Denver earlier this month and give the two boys on the team their own room, according to Eaton Schools Superintendent Dr. Randy Miller. However, when the team arrived in Denver, they found out their hotel was overbooked and there were no rooms available nearby, Miller said.
"They were down one room and the coaches made a poor decision to allow the boys to room with the girls," said Miller.Miller said whenever one sex was changing or showering, the teens of the other sex were not in the room.Miller said nothing went on, but the school district is investigating."The coaches met with the parents after the incident. They are also writing letters to the parents," Miller said.Miller said he also gave the cheerleading coaches his cell phone number in case they need an outside perspective on an issue or problem in the future.
