Suspicious Devices Found At Colorado Mills Mall
FBI Investigating After 2 Devices Found

LAKEWOOD, Colo. -- The Lakewood Police Department was called to the Colorado Mills mall Saturday morning after suspicious devices were discovered at the Borders bookstore.Police said the scene was secure. A Borders bookstore at the mall was evacuated and is currently closed.Officers said that the rest of the mall remains open and was not evacuated. The parking lot surrounding Borders was closed because of the investigation.
Dave Joly, spokesman for the FBI, said his agency is part of the investigation, along with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Joint Terrorism Task Force.Joly said when employees arrived at the business Saturday morning shortly after 1 a.m., they discovered signs of forced entry into the store. Shortly later, the two devices were found.There was no word on what the suspicious devices were, or if they posed a safety threat. No injuries were reported.

Two Small Devices Discovered
Joly said that agents discovered two small, crude explosive devices. He would not elaborate on whether they were pipe bombs or not.He said the devices were partially functional, but did not work to their full explosive potential. Joly added a small part of the store received minimal damage.FBI lab technicians will examine the devices and the scene should be cleared by Saturday evening, Joly said.Employees In Disbelief Over Scare
Jennifer Gurule, who works a few businesses down from Borders, told 7NEWS that she couldn't believe that this happened. She added nothing like this has ever happened at the mall since she has worked there.Gurule said she was interviewed by FBI agents because she closed the Brooks Brothers store at 9 p.m. Friday night. She said she told agent she did not see anything suspicious."After this happening it just shows you that no place is really safe," Gurule said.
