Pickup Truck Driver Killed In Crash With RV

RV Blew Out Front Tire, Causing Crash On Highway 6 Near Parachute

A 35-year-old Rifle man has died after his pickup truck collided head-on with an RV.

The Colorado State Patrol said an RV driven by 68-year-old James Vanacore of Florida was traveling westbound in the right lane on Interstate 70 on Tuesday when his RV blew a front tire.

Vanacore lost control of his vehicle and it veered off the highway, through a deer fence, and into the eastbound lane of Highway 6 where it struck a pickup truck driven by Vance Flynn.

Flynn was flown to St. Marys Hospital in Grand Junction where he later died.

The RV blew a front tire and that's what caused it to loose control, the Colorado State Patrol says.

The occupants of the RV sustained minor injuries.

Highway 6 was closed for over 6 hours while the investigation was completed.
