16-Year-Old Girl Killed, 4 Other Teens Injured In Car Crash
Detectives Say Driver Was Racing Another Vehicle

A 16-year-old girl was killed and four other teens injured Friday night when the driver of their car lost control during a street race, and slammed into two vehicles heading in the opposite direction, Lakewood police said.
The five teens inside the white Honda Prelude and two other people inside another vehicle were all taken to a local hospital. The 16-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Their identities and conditions have not been released because of their age. They were all coming home from a basketball game at Jefferson High School, police said.Witnesses told detectives that the Honda had been racing with another vehicle just before the violent collision but that the other vehicle had fled the scene.The driver of the Honda, who is the sister of the girl killed, may face vehicular homicide charges.The crash occurred just before 9 p.m. in the 800 block of Wadsworth Boulevard.Detectives are awaiting test results to determine if drugs or
alcohol might have been a contributing factor to the accident.
