Fired CU Quarterback Arrested On Sex Charges

Police Investigating Brennan For Alleged Dorm Assault

POSTED: 9:15 am MST February 3, 2004

University of Colorado backup quarterback Colt James Brennan faces charges of burglary, unlawful sexual contact and false imprisonment after he allegedly exposed himself and fondled a female student.

Campus police said the incident was reported Jan. 28. Brennan was dismissed from the team two days later and arrested on Monday.

According to the woman filing the complaint, Brennan came into her Farrand Hall dorm room uninvited, exposed himself and molested her.

The woman told police that Brennan tried to place her hand on his penis and she asked him to leave. He then brushed his penis on her shoulder, pushed her on the bed and fondled her, according to the woman's report to police.

A friend interrupted them at that point and Brennan left the room.

The woman said she went to friend's dorm, took a shower wearing all her clothes, and then contacted police.

Brennan told police that he had been drinking, despite being under age, and had six or seven beers before the incident.

He was cut from the football team the day after giving police his statement.

Brennan faces charges of second-degree burglary, false imprisonment and unlawful sexual contact. He was booked and released Monday.

University spokesman Dave Plati said the campus police investigation is not connected to a scandal involving allegations the football program used sex to lure recruits.
