DENVER -- Denver police are looking for a pit bull accused biting a 5 year-year-old boy in Montbello.
Police said Michael White (pictured, left) received a severe bite to his face that required several stitches to close.
According to police, the dog attacked White around 3:30 p.m. Sunday in the kitchen of a friend's home in the 15100 block of Lackland Place. White's grandmother said he boy got between the dog and a treat on the floor and that's when he was attacked."This was not a scratch," said Tamara Quansah. "The dog ripped by grandson's face open."The dog was gone by the time officers arrived. Witnesses said the dog was taken from the home after the attack but police located the dog Monday and it was confiscated.It is illegal to own a pit bull in the city of Denver.The dog was being held at the Denver Animal Pound Monday while the investigation continued.The dog's owner could face charges ranging from harboring and failing to produce a vicious dog to child abuse, according to police. The homeowner could also face charges, 7NEWS reported.
