BRIGHTON, Colo. -- A 15-year veteran of the Greater Brighton Fire Protection District has been arrested on suspicion of rape, child abuse, assault and domestic violence, according to court records.Fire Chief Mark Bodane confirmed that Lt. Randall Cleveland, 35, was arrested Friday by Brighton police. Bodane said Cleveland was placed on administrative leave during the investigation.According to court records, he was arrested on suspicion of rape, child abuse, stalking, aggravated assault involving a family member and domestic violence.
Cleveland is expected to face a judge via closed circuit television on Monday. Bond was denied because of the serious nature of the charges, court records said.On his Myspace page, Cleveland describes himself as a "proud parent" and a passionate amateur drag racer."I love drag racing, much more than my wife," Cleveland writes on Myspace, declaring: "MaMa I wanna GO FAST!"He was apparently joking about loving racing more than his wife, because he also writes that his heroes are his wife and his father.Photographs show him beside his drag racer, a vintage green Chevy Nova, hugging his wife as they stand beside a fire engine and holding his baby son as he sits inside a fire truck cab."Besides work and racing, I ride motorcycles for some quiet time. When you are on the bike you feel so free and can sort out lifes (sic) little problems," he writes. "It is great quiet time. My wife and I enjoy just relaxing and riding around."
