Wal-Mart Apologizes To Breast-Feeding Mother
Fort Collins Woman Plans 'Nurse-In' Outside Store

Wal-Mart has issued an apology to a Fort Collins, Colo., mother who was asked not to breast-feed her infant in one of their stores Saturday.Jennifer Trimble, 19, said she started breast-feeding her 8-month-old daughter in the checkout lane at the Wal-Mart Supercenter in Fort Collins, but was asked to stop by store personnel.Wal-Mart said the request was made after customers complained. Even so, Wal-Mart said it is sorry.
"We're just sorry for the inconvenience to her," said Beverly Rick, a Wal-Mart spokeswoman in Bentonville, Ark.Rick said that all Wal-Mart managers will be told company policy is to allow breast-feeding in its stores.Even so, Trimble plans to testify Thursday afternoon in favor of a legislative bill that would allow women to breast-feed babies in public. She also plans to hold a "nurse-in" outside the Wal-Mart on Jan. 31 and hopes other breast-feeding mothers will join her.
