The Jefferson County Sheriff's Department is working to identify human bones found in White Ranch Park, north of Golden.

A man walking his dog Saturday afternoon around Deer Meadow trail found the body in a shallow grave.

Because of the lateness of the discovery, the area was secured overnight and deputies began combing the area on Sunday.

The body is badly decomposed, making it impossible to determine gender, age or manner of death without a detailed examination.
