DENVER -- IKEA is months from opening its first store in Colorado, but it's already posting job openings on its website.

IKEA is building a store in Centennial, near Park Meadows Mall. It's scheduled to open this fall.

The IKEA website lists 18 different jobs available at the store ranging from cashier and merchandising to interior design and visual planning. The store will have a 550-seat restaurant so the job openings list includes dishwasher and food service. And because every store has security issues, IKEA is hiring people to work in loss prevention.

"At IKEA, we realize that the ability to do the things in life that bring success and happiness is extremely valuable to our coworkers. It also is as fun to work at IKEA as it is to shop at IKEA."

IKEA plans to hire 400 people in Centennial, officials said.

The store will feature 10,000 exclusively designed items, three model home interiors, 50 room settings, a supervised children’s play area, and baby care rooms.

IKEA Centennial also will have solar panels on the store’s roof and will be the first U.S. IKEA store to integrate a geothermal component as part of its heating and cooling system.

IKEA offers benefits including full medical/dental insurance to coworkers working 20 hours or more per week with eligibility for domestic partners and children. Employees working less than 20 hours still are eligible for medical and dental insurance.
