Head-On Crash Occurred On Littleton Bike Bath

POSTED: 8:07 a.m. MST December 10, 2003
UPDATED: 11:45 a.m. MST December 10, 2003

A Littleton man accused of causing a crash that killed a fellow bicyclist will face a criminal charge.

Scott Weeks, 35, is accused of careless driving resulting in death, a misdemeanor.

Authorities say 60-year-old Thomas Fox of Ken Caryl Ranch was riding south along the Mary Carter Greenway Trail on the afternoon of Oct. 10 when the northbound Weeks struck him on a blind curve.

They crashed head-on and the impact snapped off the front forks of both bikes.

Fox was pronounced dead at the scene. Weeks was taken to Swedish Hospital and treated for back pain.

Investigators said drugs and alcohol were not factors in the crash.
