KIOWA, Colo. -- Officials served a search warrant Monday morning at the Kiowa home of Jacqueline McCuen, the owner of the three pit bulls involved in last month's attack that left one person dead and two others injured.
Officials said that execution of the search warrant may or may not continue beyond Monday, and that weather may be the deciding factor.
Elbert County officials were aided in the search by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, investigators from the 18th Judicial District Attorney's Office and members of NecroSearch.Investigators planned to send the case against McCuen to prosecutors this week but it could be delayed for another week.Tests on the three pit bulls showed the dogs did not have rabies.McCuen is facing charges of criminally negligent homicide. If found guilty, she could spend up to three years in prison.
