POSTED: 12:47 p.m. MST November 18, 2003
Nearly two-dozen searchers were looking for a snowboarder and his dog on Monarch Pass Tuesday.
Matt Rhoades, 30, of Salida, Colo., failed to return home Monday evening after going snowboarding on the pass, Chaffee County Sheriff's officials said Tuesday.
The search area is near the top of the pass, which received a foot of snow since Monday. Overnight temperatures dipped to 10 degrees, under clear skies.
Rhoades recently moved from Fort Collins, Colo., and was snowboarding only with his Border collie.
By noon Tuesday, searchers had found no trace of the missing man and his dog.
