In the five years that 7NEWS has been bringing you stories of remarkable volunteers, we've never received so many nominations for just one person.
This week's hero is a familiar face to our viewers because she is our meteorologist but it's what she does on her own time that is changing lives for the better.
Pam Daale has beaten cancer, and in the process shared her indomitable spirit with countless others."The last time I was here I was wearing a hat. I had absolutely no hair. I had my eyebrows drawn on and I think I was wearing fake eyelashes, so we've come a long way in a year," Daale said. When she's not spending time with her family Daale shares her personal story of perseverance. "Rotary clubs, there are cancer support groups, there are MOPS groups -- Mothers of Preschoolers -- so it's a whole range," Daale said.Everywhere she goes, she's surrounded by words of encouragement and praise for all she has done to help others battling cancer."People have asked me questions and they've started to cry and I know that I'm reaching them in such a way that it helps them to fix whatever they're going through," Daale said. The mother of two spends hours of her own time writing an online journal on TheDenverChannel.com that has proven to be an inspiration to many."I believe God put me here for a reason. And this is really it. I think I am here to help people," Daale said. Her faith is truly her source of strength. She's not one to take credit for overcoming obstacles. In fact, had she known dozens of people nominated her as a 7Everyday Hero, she probably would have declined the award. So the 7NEWS team surprised her with the honor at -- what else -- one of her many speaking engagements. To read her online journal, click here.Check out other resources in our breast cancer section.
