Suspects Sought In Teen's Alleged Abduction
Boulder Police Searching For Men, Pickup Truck
POSTED: 9:14 a.m. MDT September 24, 2003
Authorities in Boulder, Colo., are looking for three men in connection with the abduction of a teenager Tuesday afternoon.
The 14-year-old girl from Broomfield told police that she strayed from a school outing in southeast Boulder and was kidnapped by three men in a pickup truck.
Police said the girl was not sexually assaulted but did sustain some minor scratches to her face and arms.
The girl said she decided to leave her group for a while and walked over the Foothills Parkway pedestrian overpass at Sioux Drive. From there, the victim said she jogged and ran on streets and paths in the southeast Boulder area.
She told police that three Hispanic men in a pickup began following her and one of the men forcibly dragged her to the pickup. She helped police with composite sketches of two of the men (pictured, left) in their mid-40s, but couldn't give enough for a composite on the third man, who she said was in his 30s.
The victim was eventually freed at the Bobolink trailhead. The victim then reportedly walked to the Arapahoe Ridge high school where she contacted a school resource officer.
Despite being interviewed and driven around the area extensively, the exact location of where
the reported abduction occurred could not be determined.
Police are looking for a reddish-orange, older Chevrolet full-size pickup with rusting wheel wells, a Kansas City Chiefs license plate bracket on the rear, and a Chihuahua, Mexico, bumper sticker on right rear bumper.
Anyone who has seen a vehicle matching the description is asked to call Det. Jane Harmer at (303) 441-3381. Those who wish to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at (303) 440-STOP.
