Climber Falls 40 Feet, Crawls 12 Hours For Help
Woman Climbing Alone In Boulder Canyon Critically Injured

BOULDER, Colo. -- A 19-year-old Boulder woman crawled for 12 hours after falling 40 feet and critically injuring herself while climbing alone in Boulder Canyon.Two climbers found the injured woman Friday at 6:30 a.m. on the trail to the popular "Dome" rock formation. The woman was about 100 yards from the road when she was found.Members of the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group, Four Mile Fire and sheriff's deputies carried the woman to a waiting ambulance.
The woman was not wearing climbing gear and was suffering from hypothermia, according to the Boulder County Sheriff's Office.She was rushed to Boulder Community Hospital where she was listed in critical condition. The woman's name has not been released.According to deputies, the woman was bouldering alone when she fell at about 6 p.m. Thursday, while climbing the Dome.Bouldering is a style of rock climbing undertaken without a rope and normally limited to very short climbs so that a fall will not result in serious injury.The woman was near “The Owl” climbing route when she fell onto the trail.
