Police: Jogger's Beating On YouTube Led To Arrests

5 Girls, 2 Women Arrested In Greeley Case

Greeley police say a video posted on YouTube showing a jogger being assaulted two weeks ago in a city park has led officers to arrest some of the people suspected of being involved.

A 47-year-old woman was jogging at Glenmere Park on Aug. 24 when she tried to stop two girls who were fighting while others egged them on, police said. That's when a 17-year-old girl began attacking the jogger.

The YouTube video shows an adult woman encouraging the teenager to beat the jogger, police said.

By watching the video, police recognized some of the girls and women involved in the assault, according to the Greeley Tribune.

Police have arrested five juvenile girls and two adult women, including 22-year-old Chantel Gallegos.

Police said she was seen on the tape shouting at the girl who was assaulting the woman, “.... her up!” “Punch her in the face!” “Knee her!”

Police contacted the legal guardians of some of the girls in the fight, and they identified Gallegos as the woman shouting and egging on the girl who assaulted the jogger, the newspaper said.

Last week, police went to Gallegos home, where she admitted that she took her niece to the park so she could fight, court records said.

The jogger suffered bruises and cuts to her face and head.
