SALIDA, Colo. -- The remains of a Colorado rafting guide are still missing nearly two months after the 23-year-old Breckenridge woman fell into the Arkansas River.

Authorities say Kimberly Appelson's body has not been found despite weeks of searching after she was thrown from a raft July 11. Last month, the flow of the river was slowed above Salida in hopes of assisting the search.

Appelson was thrown during a treacherous stretch called the Frog Creek rapid, where least six people have died in the area since 1990. It was also where search dogs had last picked up her scent.

The Summit Daily News reports that officials have exhausted their tools to try to locate Appelson's body.

Authorities even slowed the flow of the Arkansas River in an attempt to recover her body. Searchers thought the body could be caught in a slot in rocks or caught in debris or caught in a cave under a rock, so they decreased the river flow to allow underwater cameras, divers and poles to can get into areas they have not been able to access.
