Legal Web Site Publishes Bryant Accuser's Name, Address

Document Filed On Official Court Web Site

POSTED: 1:51 p.m. MDT September 16, 2003

An official government Web site maintained by Colorado's Office of the State Court Administrator accidentally published court documents that contained the name and address of the alleged victim in the Kobe Bryant Case, TheSmokingGun.com reported Tuesday.

The name and address were in an exhibit attached to a motion filed by the Vail Police Department that sought to quash a defense subpoena.

According to TheSmokingGun.com, the document went online at 8:25 a.m., mountain time and was not taken off until court officials were contacted by the Web site shortly before 10 a.m.

The document was restored about an hour later, with the woman's name and address blacked out.

A clerk in the Eagle County Courthouse said that workers there are responsible for redacting the alleged victim's name from filings before scanning and e-mailing the documents to the Denver headquarters of the Colorado Court Administrator, the Web site reported.

Bryant, 25, is charged with raping the Eagle woman June 30 in his suite at a mountain resort where she worked and he was a guest. Bryant has said the two had consensual sex.
