Deputy: Man Stopped For Speeding Says His Son Was Dying

Investigation Shows Man Lied, Police Say

POSTED: 1:41 pm MDT September 3, 2010

A Utah man was arrested near Eagle Wednesday evening after motorists called to report a driver speeding and driving erratically.

When an Eagle County deputy pulled Eric Repasy over on Interstate 70 near Eagle, Repasy told the deputy that he was trying to make it to the hospital before his son died.

"The deputy confirmed the story to be a lie," a news release said.

Repasy, 47, of Sandy, Utah, was arrested and charged with two counts of reckless endangerment, DUI, reckless driving and speeding, according to the Sheriff's Office.

He spent the night in jail before posting a $1,000 bond.

Eagle county officers are working extra patrol as part of the "Heat Is On" campaign to make the roads safer.

“I hope that our efforts, combined with help from public and everyone's good decision not to drink and drive, we keep everyone safe this holiday weekend,” said Sheriff Joe Hoy.
