7 Arrested In Assault On Greeley Jogger
Police Indentify Additional Suspects

GREELEY, Colo. -- Greeley police have arrested six people and are seeking a seventh in the assault of a jogger in a city park.A 47-year-old Greeley woman was jogging in Glenmere Park on Aug. 24 when she saw a group of 20 teens watching a girl beat up another girl. The woman told the girls to stop but they called her names and threatened her, according to the police report.The woman took out her cell phone to call 911 and was hit in the face several times by one of the girls. The woman said the crowd encouraged the girl to beat her up and some recorded the assault on their cell phones.
The first suspect turned herself in on Thursday."Officers working the case developed strong leads that resulted in the female becoming aware that they knew how she was involved in the incident, and she turned herself in to authorities," said Greeley police Sgt. Joe Tymkowych.Later, police said additional arrests were made."The investigation has produced six additional identities of the individuals involved in the disturbance that resulted in a jogger being assaulted when she attempted to stop the fighting," police said in a statement. "The investigation has produced the identity of the two original combatants, who will have information forwarded to the Weld County District Attorney's Office for consideration of charges of disorderly conduct, and engaging in a riot."Both girls are 17-years-old and are Greeley residents, according to police. Four additional juveniles were identified. They were in a crowd encouraging the two original combatants and the assault on the jogger, police said.Additional arrests are pending in the case, according to police.
