RENO, Nev. -- The man shot and killed outside a Reno casino last week has been identified as a 40-year-old fugitive wanted in Colorado.Police said Stuart Alan Wood got into a confrontation with four Reno and University of Nevada, Reno police officers in the parking lot of the Circus Circus casino. Officials said officers exchanged words with Wood before the shooting.
7NEWS did a background check on Wood and found an extensive arrest record dating back to 1993. The arrests include a variety of charges including assault, harassment, stalking, drug possession, child abuse and domestic violence. Most of the criminal activity occurred in Morgan County, according to court records.Investigators haven't said if Wood was armed. But the Washoe County Sheriff's Office said authorities had been looking for Wood's late-model Chevrolet Camaro with Colorado license plates, and that Wood had been designated an "officer safety issue." The four officers involved are on paid administrative leave pending results of an investigation.
