Edgewater police conducted two searches Thursday in connection with the disappearance and death of Heather DeWild.

DeWild, 30, disappeared in July from Edgewater after meeting with her estranged husband just days before their divorce was to become final.

Her decomposed body was found wrapped in plastic and buried in a shallow grave Sept. 4 along Highway 6 in west of Golden, Colo., in Clear Creek Canyon.

Thursday, police returned to the home of her estranged husband, Daniel DeWild (pictured, left), with a search warrant and were also simultaneously searching his father's business. They left with eight boxes of evidence, but wouldn't say what they found.

Daniel DeWild has not been named a suspect in his wife's disappearance, but family members complained that he is being treated like one.

Thursday's search of the DeWild home was the second since the mother of two disappeared. This time, police set up a command post and were bringing items out of the house to a covered area near the street in front of the home.

"The investigation has the potential for being challenging and this one has lasted awhile, so it is a challenge, but we're up to that," said Lt. Dan Keough, of the Edgewater Police Department.

A Jefferson County grand jury has also been looking into Heather DeWild's disappearance but has not taken any action.

The county coroner has not determined how DeWild died.

Edgewater police have scheduled a 3 p.m. news conference to discuss the DeWild case.
