BROOMFIELD, Colo. -- Police said a man died early Sunday morning after being stabbed in a bar fight in Broomfield.

Scott Swenson, spokesman for the Broomfield Police Department, said officers responded to U.S. 287 and Midway Boulevard. shortly before 2 a.m. on a report of a stabbing.

A 31-year-old man was discovered to have been stabbed in the torso with a knife, and police said, he died later at an area hospital.

On Monday, the Adams County Coroner's Office identified the victim as 31-year-old Matias Mondragon. The office said Mongragon was a resident of Ranchos de Taos, NM. The autopsy report listed the cause of death as a single stab wound.

Swenson said the victim had been involved in a fight earlier at the Night Owl Lounge at 2000 W Midway Blvd. Police identified a suspect who had left the scene and arrested Matt Joe Weber, 30, of Arvada. He is being held on first-degree murder charges, Swenson said.
