NEW DELHI, India -- Mad about a bad driver on your commute? In Delhi, you can turn them in on Facebook.

The Delhi Traffic Police have a Facebook page where fans can posts photos and license plate of drivers breaking the law.

Monday morning, Lafi Sharma posted a photo of people riding double on a motorbike. She said their plate number was defective. A minute later, Delhi Traffic Police posted, "Thanks, necessary action will be taken." A moderator also posted "DTP issues notice to the registered owner of the vehicle."

The traffic police started the Facebook page two months ago, and almost immediately residents became digital informants, posting photos of their fellow drivers violating traffic laws, according to the New York Times. The newspaper said, as of Sunday, more than 17,000 people had become fans of the page and posted almost 3,000 photographs and dozens of videos.

The list of complaints with photos showed people riding motorcycles without helmets, cars stopped in intersections/crosswalks for red lights and people parked illegally.

Using the pictures, the Delhi Traffic Police have issued 665 tickets, using the license plate numbers shown in the photos to track vehicle owners, reported the New York Times. The Delhi Traffic Police have a team of four officers who monitor the Facebook page around the clock.
