A Broomfield-based restaurant chain. Benchwarmers Tavern & Grill, abruptly closed three of its Colorado restaurants and canceled plans to open 17 others after its CEO was arrested on an unknown parole violation.

It wasn't immediately clear on Friday what 47-year-old Kevin R. Foote was arrested for Wednesday in Boulder County.

BenchWarmers Tavern & Grill Regional Manager Mindy Bulmer said the sports bar was doing good business but that employees had not been paid since June 30. She said about 300 workers are now unemployed and that plans to expand the franchise to 17 more locations were called off.

Two of the closed restaurants were in Denver and the other in Erie. The restaurant has 26 locations around the country.

Records show that Foote has been arrested about a dozen times in Colorado from 1993 to 2003 for allegations of fraud and larceny theft between $300 and $10,000.
