Police: Wallets Stolen While Owners Tanned
Off-Duty Officer Spotted Suspicious Activity

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- An alert off-duty police officer is being credited with stopping a two-person theft ring.Colorado Springs police said in June that an off-duty officer witnessed suspicious activity and started an investigation.Over the next few weeks, officers determined two people were entering tanning salons and stealing wallets and purses from people tanning inside. The police report said the two people were also entering vehicles outside and taking items.
Wednesday, officers arrested Sean Armstrong, 31, and Courteney Armstrong, 28.The police report said when officers searched the Armstrong's home, they found numerous stolen credit cards and identification cards. Detectives said they were able to identify 15 different victims from throughout Colorado Springs.
