Crash Under Investigation

Canadian authorities said they've recovered the body of a Longmont man who crashed in the Northwest Territories on his way back to Colorado.

Authorities said a Canadian Coast Guard helicopter spotted the crash site Thursday about 80 miles southeast of Norman Wells, Canada, and 75-year-old Terry Johnson was confirmed dead at the scene.

Johnson last had contact with air traffic personnel Saturday morning. He was returning by himself from a family canoeing and fishing trip. Canadian authorities had been looking for him every since.

Johnson founded the data-storage MiniScribe company in 1980 from his Longmont home. The company went bankrupt and Maxtor bought the assets in 1990.

The crash is under investigation.
