244,000+ Acres Burned In Colorado In 2012

Wildfires in Colorado have burned more than 244,000 acres, destroyed more than 653 homes and taken six lives this year. Here is update on the current wildfires and some of the large wildfires we've dealt with this year.

Waldo Canyon Fire, Colorado Springs --18,247 acres, 80% contained --346 homes lost, 2 residents died --At one point, 32,000 people evacuated from their homes. Approx. 2,000 remain evacuated. --Started June 23, no cause yet

Pine Ridge Fire, near Grand Junction --13,920 acres, 95% contained --Pre-evacuation orders lifted at 6 a.m. Tuesday --532 fire personnel on scene --Started June 27 by lightning

Little Sand Fire, near Pagosa Springs --24,800 acres, 40% contained --202 fire personnel on scene --Started May 13 by lightning

Weber Fire, near Mancos --10,133 acres, 85% contained --375 fire personnel on scene --Started June 22. Human caused, under investigation.

Flagstaff Fire, near Boulder --300 acres, 90% contained --203 fire fighting personnel --Started June 26 by lightning

Lightner Fire, near Durango --90 acres, 80% contained --Started June 27 by lightning

High Park Fire, near Fort Collins --87,284 acres --259 homes lost, 1 resident killed --Cost of fighting fire is $39.2 million --Started June 9 by lightning

Last Chance Fire, Eastern Plains --45,000 acres --9 structures lost, four were homes. --Started June 25. Caused by sparks from a tire rim

Heartstrong Fire, Yuma County --24,000 acres burned --2 homes lost --3 firefighters injured, one seriously --Started March 18

Hewlett Fire, near Fort Collins --7,685 acres --Started May 14. Human caused, camp stove.

Sunrise Mine Fire, near Paradox --5,742 acres --Started May 25. Human caused

Lower North Fork Fire, Jefferson County --4,440 acres --22 homes destroyed, 3 people killed --Started in March. Human caused. Prescribed burn.

Springer Fire, near Lake George --1,145 acres --Started June 17. Human caused, under investigation.

County Road 102, near Elbert --600 acres --Prompted evacuations in the town of Ebert --Cause under investigation

Treasure Fire, near Leadville --420 acres --Started June 23. Human caused, under investigation.

Stateline Fire, near Durango --350+ acres --Closed Highway 550 for a short trime

Fowler Fire, near Fowler --340 acres --Started May 27. Started by sparks from passing train.

CR 154, east of Kiowa --200 acres --Started June 27

Woodland Heights Fire, near Estes Park --27 acres --22 homes burned and 2 outbuildings --Caused by electrical line rubbing against a pine tree in turbulent winds

Trout Creek Fire, Douglas County --25 acres --Started June 24

Eby Creek Fire, near Eagle --8 acres
