According to neighbors, a Parker woman was trying to light her propane grill to barbecue when her home went up in flames Friday night.

Firefighters said the flames reached as high as 30 feet, seriously damaging the porch, attic and garage of the house on Wild Alfalfa Place.

The woman was not hurt. Neighbors reported hearing a series of small explosions as the fire grew.

Two homes were briefly evacuated. South Metro Fire battallion chief David Daley said firefighters were fortunate the flames did not spread to the other homes.
