DENVER -- It may be July, but that’s not stopping retailers from offering Christmas sales.Target is leading the way. On Friday, it will offer a one-day, online only, Christmas Sale.Among the bargains: a Phillips Blu-Ray player for $99.99. Women's clothing will also see some cuts.
Some 500 items will be on the sale list with savings similar to that after Thanksgiving.Toys R' Us and Sears are also going online with summer, pre-Christmas sales. If you find a good bargain, many economists say you should buy now. Many stores will put limits on the number of items they place on sale."They really want to get the inventory. Get it off the shelf, get it sold right now. Get the cash in now. That'll help them through the rest of the year," said University of Denver economist Dr. Maclyn Clouse. There is one item analysts say you may want to wait to buy. With new cell phones arriving on the market, the closer to Christmas, the better the bargain.
