GREELEY, Colo. -- Greeley police identified the driver who crashed into the Greeley Mall Saturday, killing two women and injuring a 9-year-old boy, as 29-year-old Peter Lain, of Evans.

Police said the case remains under investigation and that no determination has been made about whether charges will be filed against Lain.

Witnesses have said it appeared Lain was unconscious behind the wheel just before the crash, and there has been speculation that he has some sort of medical condition.

Lain has been released from the hospital, but could not be reached for comment.

His neighbors described him as a friendly person and a good neighbor.

"It sounds like a really sad situation, something he couldn't control, but I don't know. It just seems unfortunate for everyone involved," said Kacey Diede, a neighbor who also worked with one of the victims, Kim Fletcher. "We had a moment of silence at work in her memory today. She'll be dearly missed. It's really sad for all the families involved."

Greeley police said the case will be forwarded to the Weld County District Attorney's Office for review.
