EDGEWATER, Colo. -- A car belonging to a missing 30-year-old mother of two was found parked outside an apartment complex on Monday, 12 days after the woman was last seen.

Heather Jean Dewild, 30, has been missing for more than a week.

Her white Nissan Sentra was spotted near 44th Avenue and Kipling, in the parking lot of a Wheat Ridge apartment complex late Monday afternoon and was impounded (pictured, left). The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office had a bloodhound at the scene to try and pick up a scent from the car, 7NEWS reported.

Police could not see anything out of the ordinary in the vehicle and did not know how long it had been at the apartment complex, said Edgewater Police Chief Karl Wilmes.

Dewild was involved in a divorce at the time of her disappearance and it was to be final this week.

Her husband, Daniel Dewild has not been named a suspect in his estranged wife's disappearance, but officers said that this was the next logical step in the investigation.

Police are treating the disappearance as a missing person's case but haven't ruled other possibilities. District Attorney Dave Thomas has asked the Jefferson County Grand Jury to look into the case. The panel can subpoena witnesses to testify, if needed.

Heather Dewild (pictured, left) was to start a new job as a ticket agent with United Airlines last week, but she disappeared.

Daniel Dewild told police he met her at a McDonald's July 24, where she dropped the kids off and told him that she needed to run an errand. He said she never came back. He has since been fully cooperative with police.

Dave Springer, her father, said Heather went to see Daniel because she wanted to talk about a small check he had received in both of their names and to pick up health insurance forms for the children. Springer said the couple usually met at public places whenever they discussed the children.

The two children told their grandparents they ate at McDonald's, then went to their father's home and began playing in the back yard.

Her parents said Heather had no money and there has been no activity involving her bank account since she disappeared.

Heather Dewild is described as petite, about 4 feet 9 inches tall and weighing 98 pounds. She has sandy blond hair and blue eyes.

Also Monday, a judge granted Heather Dewild's parents temporary custody of her children, ages 5 and 3, said David Springer, the missing woman's grandfather.
