City officials continued to watch high water levels Sunday that threatened homes and businesses in Estes Park.

Town spokeswoman Kate Rusch told 7NEWS the spring runoff and recent warm temperatures have caused the rivers to run "pretty high."

Rusch said the water has the potential to impact the entire downtown area.

The Big Thompson and Fall rivers were close to overflowing their banks Saturday.

Sandbags were placed around the downtown post office and around 1,000 bags and sand are being made available to residents and business owners who want to make their own levees.
