A Denver teacher was arrested Tuesday after a 16-year-old student reported that he had sex with her.

Robert C. Drake

Robert C. Drake, 25 (pictured, left), a gym teacher and sports director at the Denver Waldorf School, was booked for investigation of sexual assault to a child by a person in a position of trust, according to Denver Police.

Authorities did not release further details of the alleged incident, other than to say they were notified of the alleged crime Monday, but that it allegedly happened last April. It was investigated by the Child Abuse Unit.

The Denver Waldorf School is a not-for-profit independent school located at 940 Filmore Street.

School administrators said they conduct background checks on all teachers, but this is the first complaint against Drake.

Drake has resigned his position with the school.
