Mutilated Cat Found At Sloans Lake
Latest Case Brings Cat Cases to 48

DENVER -- Another mutilated cat was found in the Denver metro area, this one at Sloans Lake Park, just a few yards off a walking path.
A Denver Parks and Recreation employee discovered the mutilated body of the cat just a near 17th Avenue and Xavier Street on the south side of the park about 7 a.m.
Denver Police and Denver Animal Control were called to the scene. The body was removed and taken to the Denver Dumb Friends League where a necropsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death, and to look for additional forensic evidence.
Another mutilated cat was found over the weekend. It was found in the Globeville neighborhood, near Interstate 70 and Interstate 25.
The two latest discoveries bring the number of cat mutilation cases to 48, including more than two dozen in Aurora.
A $14,500 reward has been offered for information leading to the arrest of those responsible and a special task force has been assembled to investigate the crimes.
