GLENDALE, Colo. -- The Sheepskin Factory in Denver has been destroyed by an early-morning fire that police are labeling suspicious.Several people called 911 to report the fire on South Colorado Boulevard near Cherry Creek Drive around 3:30 a.m."Once crews arrived on scene they had fire shooting 15 to 20 feet through the roof," said Lt. Phil Champagne, a Denver Fire Department spokesman.
That is when they called a second alarm, according to Champagne.Champagne said the building is a complete loss. Fire crews said a rug store in the same building was damaged.Investigators have not said what caused the fire, but they said the fire has been labeled suspicious because of its intensity and because of a tip that police received that morning. No one was injured. The fire has forced road closures in the area. One lane of northbound Colorado Boulevard is closed at Cherry Creek Drive South. Southbound Colorado is open, but traffic is moving slowly.Virginia Street is closed at Colorado Blvd. The Sheepskin Factory sold such items as sheepskin pet toys and sheepskin seat covers.
