At Least 25 Cats Found Mutilated In Metro Area

DENVER -- Another cat has been found mutilated in the Denver metro area, this time in Jefferson County.A homeowner found the animal Friday morning in the Dakota Station subdivision near South Kipling Street and West Chatfield Avenue, authorities said.
The remains were taken to the Denver Dumb Friends League for examination and collection of forensic evidence.A collar with the owner's name was found at the scene and deputies were attempting to locate the owner from southwest Denver.Jefferson County Sheriff's investigators were working closely with Aurora police detectives and the task force formed to solve the string of animal killings. At least 25 cats have been mutilated in the metro area since last year, 7NEWS reported.Investigators ask that anyone who finds the remains of animal to notify authorities immediately and not disturb the crime scene.A $12,000 reward has been established for information leading to the arrest and conviction of any anyone responsible for the mutilations.
