DENVER -- Colorado Department Of Transportation crews are urging drivers to use caution as they travel Friday evening into Saturday morning. CDOT will have 78 trucks on the road in an effort to clear snow and ice that has accumulated since sundown."The roads are pretty well coated with ice, pretty slippery. Saw a couple of accidents on the way down," said driver Jared Berg."The roads are icy. You won't be going 70 mph,” said Amanda Stark, a passenger.
At one point, because of ice, east bound C470 was closed at Santa Fe. It reopened after crews spread sand near the Douglas/Araphoe county line. The immediate threat is snow and slush that will freeze as temperatures drop."They can fool you and they'll be slick. If you have to stop, that's a problem,” said truck driver Nat Lancaster."Stay home. Turn on the fireplace. Have some hot chocolate and take it easy," said Berg.
