GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. -- A 911 call and a fast response from firefighters kept a carpet scrap fire from potentially destroying a Glenwood Springs business.A trailer filled with carpet scraps and flooring installation items was found on fire early Tuesday morning in Glenwood Springs. The Garfield County Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call at 4:47 a.m. The trailer was next to a Carpet One store at 2628 Glen Avenue. Firefighters reported 15-foot flames from the trailer. Eight firefighters were able to put the flames out in five minutes. Fire crews spent an hour putting out hot spots in the walls and ceiling of the Carpet One Building next to the trailer. The carpet store had some major smoke damage, but the building itself was minimally damaged.
The Glenwood Springs Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire.
