Wanna-Be Spiderman OK After Fall From Building

Police Find Marijuana Grow Inside Apartment

A wanna-be Spiderman is OK after falling from the side of a Denver apartment building and hitting the ground head-first Monday, police said.

But police have some questions for the unidentified man after they found a marijuana grow inside the fifth-floor floor apartment at East 12th Avenue and Grant Street near downtown, said police spokesman Sonny Jackson.

The man appeared to be unhurt after evaluation at a hospital, Jackson said

Asked if the man had a medical marijuana patient card, Jackson said police are legally prohibited from disclosing that information.

Police suspect the man was trying to avoid officers who were called to the apartment before 10 a.m. to do a welfare check on a woman who hadn't showed up for work, Jackson said.

After officers knocked on the door, they could hear movement inside the apartment. But no one would come to the door, Jackson said.

The officers were going down to the building management office to get someone to let them into the apartment when they say a man fly over the entry-way canopy, and hit the ground, Jackson said.

Police believe the man was trying to climb Spiderman-like down the side of the building, balcony-to-balcony, toward the ground, he added.

The man apparently got close enough to the ground or the canopy and thought he could jump onto the canopy, but he missed, Jackson said.

The woman whom police were doing the welfare check for was later located safe elsewhere.
