EDGEWATER, Colo. -- Police called about a domestic-violence situation discovered 337 marijuana plants in an Edgewater home on Sunday.Arriving officers confronted Laef Oneil Fox, 30, who was home alone, and "smelled a strong odor of unburned marijuana that permeated the entire residence," said Steve Davis, spokesman for Edgewater police. Officers searched the home and, in the basement, found 337 plants in various stages of growth.Davis said the discovery "appears to be a grow operation of marijuana."
The plants were confiscated by the West Metro Drug Task Force, Davis said.Fox said he did have a medical marijuana card; however, police said that would allow him to have six plants. He was "unable to produce a certificate showing he could grow the amount seized," Davis said.Fox was arrested and booked on suspicion of cultivation of marijuana and possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, Davis said. The street value of the plants is unknown at this time, but Fox told officers they were worth $4,000 per pound, Davis said.
