Former Band Teacher Sentenced In Sex Assault
Andrew Burke Gets Probation in Montrose Case

MONTROSE, Colo. -- A former band teacher at Montrose High school has been given three years supervised probation after pleading guilty to attempted sexual assault on a child.Andrew Burke had been charged with sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust but the more serious charge was dropped as part of a plea bargain.Burke was arrested in June 2009 after a former student came forward to accuse him of engaging in sex with her when she was 17.
Tuesday's plea agreement requires Burke to undergo sex-offender treatment and that he register as a sex offender for at least 10 years.
