A 23-year-old skateboarder from Elizabeth was killed Wednesday after he rode down a steep hill and then was struck by a Chevrolet Blazer, Colorado State Patrol said.
Ian Lukenbill was on a "device similar to a surfboard with four wheels," riding down the incline of Amaranth Drive when he was unable to stop, said CSP Trooper Ron Watkins.
When he approached the bottom of the hill and the T-intersection of Amaranth Drive and Valley Park Way, he was hit by 1998 Chevrolet Blazer.
Lukenbill was airlifted to Swedish Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
The driver, Matthew Houston, 20, faces no charges in the case, Watkins said.
Speed analysis and toxicology test results are pending. Watkins said it is illegal to operate devices such as skateboards, roller skates,
roller blades, and scooters on public roadways.
