UPDATED: 5:01 pm MST February 7, 2010

Two people were stabbed Saturday morning when they attempted to protect a woman involved in an argument in a bar parking lot, officials said Sunday.

The victims were identified only as a 28-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman.

The two were at the Golden Spike Bar just after 2 a.m. Saturday when they "attempted to intervene in an argument" between a man and a woman in the bar's parking lot, according to the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office.

Rick Campos, 42, of Byers, is accused of stabbing the two victims "as they made an effort to protect the female," according to the sheriff's office.

The victims were taken to a hospital, where they were treated and released.

Campos fled before deputies arrived but turned himself in at the Byers substation on Saturday afternoon, officials said. He was booked on suspicion of criminal attempt murder and first-degree assault.

Campos is being held at the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office Detentions Facility on a $50,000 bond.
